Biography
Mehmet Govercin is a medical doctor since 2001 and received his doctoral degree for his basic research in examining the effects of the Proteinkinaseinhibitor-alpha in cardiomyocytes. He was founder and head of the Ageing and Technology research group and vice director of the Geriatrics Research Group at Charite- Universitatsmedizin Berlin. Dr. Govercin led multiple European and nationally funded collaborative research projects in the field of Gerontechnology, integrated care and Ambient Assisted Living such as SmartSenior, CloudI/O, LeVer, iDSS and SOAMED. Mehmet Govercin is member of the German Geriatrics Society (DGG), the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) and the International Society for Gerontechnology (ISG). Further Dr. Govercin was founder and president of the Austrian-German-Swiss Chapter for Gerontechnology as part of the ISG and (co-)authored more than 50 publications in peer reviewed books, journals, and conference proceedings in Geriatrics Medicine.
